Our Mission

Naya Savera has a mission to make our city actually the city of joy by making these people a part of it, by ensuring that every child has access to education and can sleep soundly at home, and these people have access to sanitation services.

This is a request to all the readers to come forward and join hands to make Kolkata- City of Joy by giving opportunities for education and health to all children and adults of the weaker section of our society. Let us all bring the “NAYA SAVERA” in their lives.

I was born and brought up in Kolkata. You might know Kolkata as the “city of joy”. But not everyone gets a share of that joy.

I was raised in a neighbourhood which was situated near a slum. When I used to go to my School, I saw a lot of people living in miserable conditions like: people living in tiles or bush shaded houses, many sleeping on the footpath without access to any proper clothing, food or sanitation. I always asked my parents as a child that why do they sleep on the footpath and not in their houses. My parents always had one answer that they are poor. I learnt one thing that day that people who have less money or no access to basic standard of living are defined as poor. But as I grew up I understood who are truly poor. It is not those people who sleep on the footpath or who have less or no money. But it is people like us who are provided with more than enough necessities but yet our greed knows no bounds. It is us who do not take steps to uplift the weaker society.

It is then I decided to take up this challenge to make my city actually the city of joy by making these people a part of it, by ensuring that every child has access to education and can sleep soundly at home, and these people have access to sanitation services.

I request all the readers to come forward and join hands to make Kolkata- City of Joy by giving opportunities for education and health to all children and adults of the weaker section of our society. Let us all bring the “NAYA SAVERA” in their lives.
